Lesson 14: Weekdays in Lebanese

Hey there, welcome to my latest lesson on “Weekdays in Lebanese”! I’m so excited to be sharing this lesson with you. In this video, we’ll be going over the days of the week in the Lebanese language. It’s a quick and easy lesson, and by the end of it, you’ll be able to say the days of the week in Lebanese like a pro. But that’s not all – I’ll also be teaching you two letters of the Arabic alphabet in every lesson. This is important because while the official language of Lebanon is Fusha, the everyday conversation is in the Lebanese dialect. And if you want to write in the Lebanese dialect, you’ll need to know the Arabic alphabet.

So, whether you’re planning a trip to Lebanon, or just looking to expand your language skills, this lesson is perfect for you. I’ve made sure to make it easy to understand and fun to follow along. So grab a notebook and pen, and let’s get started on learning the “Weekdays in Lebanese”!

Shoutout to Italy

Before I start, I would like to give a shoutout to my friends in Italy: Matteo, Sara, Sebastian, Roberto, Umberto, Erasmo, and everyone else. Thanks for your support and I hope to see you soon. And a special hello to Christelle, if she’s watching.

Today’s Lesson: Weekdays

Okay, let’s get started. Today’s lesson is all about the weekdays. It’s easy, and by now you should have a good handle on them. Here they are:

  • Monday: tanen
  • Tuesday: taleta
  • Wednesday: orb3a
  • Thursday: khamees
  • Friday: jem3a
  • Saturday: sabet
  • Sunday: a7ad

So, tanen, taleta, orb3a, khamees, jem3a, sabet, a7ad. Today is Wednesday, so it’s “lyom nhar l orb3a” (today is Wednesday).

Learning the Arabic Alphabet

Now, starting today, I’ll be teaching you two letters of the Arabic alphabet in every lesson. Why? Because while the official language of Lebanon is Fusha, most everyday conversation is in the Lebanese dialect. And if you want to write in the Lebanese dialect, you’ll need to know the Arabic alphabet. So let’s start:

Today’s letters: Alif أ (a) and Ba’ ب (b)

Today we’re learning the letters “Alif أ” (a) and “Ba’ ب” (b). “Alif” is the first letter of the alphabet, and “Ba'” is the second. There’s a book called “Alif Baa” that’s all about the sounds and basic letters of Arabic, and it’s very interesting. If you’re interested, you can find the link to it on my blog.

The sounds of Alif and Ba’

The sound of “Alif” is -ah, and “Ba'” is -b. Now, I’ll show you how to write the letters. It’s very easy, you’ll see. With these two letters, we can make the word “beib,” which means “door.” In Fusha, it’s “bab,” but in the Lebanese dialect it’s “beib.”

Writing the letters Alif and Ba’

Now, I’ll grab the camera and show you how to write the letters. So, thank you for watching, and I hope you learned something new. Bye!

P.S. I hope the camera work is clear, so you can see how to write the letters.
