Transcript:

Hi, what do you want?
Today I will tell you “what do you want?” in Arabic.
The verb I want:

I want: ana baddeh.

ana baddeh because I means ana, want means baddeh.
I want: ana baddeh
But guess what, you don’t have to say all the time ana baddeh. You could simply say baddeh.

You use ana baddeh when you want to confirm or reinforce your demand or idea. So I give you examples:

I want to eat: baddeh ekoul

I want: baddeh
To eat: ekoul
I want to eat: baddeh ekoul

I want to drink: baddeh eshrab

So you can say ana baddeh eshrab but you don’t have to. You say baddeh eshrab.

I want to sleep: baddeh nem

I want to work: baddeh eshteghil

I want to study: baddeh edrous

I want to dance: baddeh or2ous

I want money: baddeh masareh

to do all this, of course you have to have masareh.
I want to eat: baddeh ekoul
I want to drink: baddeh eshrab
I want to sleep: baddeh nem
I want to work: baddeh eshteghil
I want to study: baddeh edrous
I want to dance: baddeh or2ous
I want money: baddeh masareh
now, if you want to ask someone what does he want you say:

What do you(m.) want: shou baddak?

For a man you tell him shou baddak?
Because what means shou
What do you want?
do you want means baddak
so what do you want?: shou baddak?

What do you(f.) want?: shou baddik?

For a woman, what do you want?: shou baddik?
The difference is in the up or down (meaning the vowels which are written above or below the letter in the Arabic alphabet).
shou baddak? for a man

shou baddik? for a woman
Ok so shou baddak, shou baddik.

I tell you before I go that here if you are with someone or with a group of people, before you leave them you ask them “do you want something?”, they probably say no, have fun, goodbye, but you ask them “do you want something?”
so I will tell you that:

Do you(m.) want something? baddak shi?

or

Do you(f.) want something? baddik shi?

or

Do you(pl.) want something? baddkoun shi?

So guys baddkoun shi? I have to go now, I hope you enjoyed the lesson.

Ciao, ciao!
