Arabic has contributed numerous words to the English language like  قطن [koton], cotton,   سكر [succar], sugar,  غزال [ghazal], gazelle,   قيثارة [qithara], guitar,  الكحول [alcoo’hool], alcohol,   صحراء [sahra’a], sahara,  قيراط [qeerat], carat, and   ليمون [laymoon], lemon.
